Retaining Wall

Friday 8th May to Wednesday 20th May 2015

After getting a few quotes (high) to build the retaining wall we decided to build it ourselves.

What a mission!!  The week we had to build the wall it rained almost every day and even hailed.  Our nicely leveled back yard turned into mud pit and made the going tough.

Big thanks to David Barber and his old man Peter who gave us a hand to build it.

Water Tank

Friday 15th May 2015

Once the front section of the retaining wall was finished we were right to install the water tank.  Due to its size (10,000L Maxi Slimline), we has to crane it in.

Solar Panels and Blinds

The house is busy again today with our solar panels being installed, and the roller blinds are going up too. The shutters are still a couple of weeks away, but it's nice to see it all coming together.

We have the keys!!

Thursday 30th April 2015

Hand Over!!  Met with our site supervisor and did a walk through.  Checked off most items - all of the major appliances actually get installed on hand over day (apparently so they don't get stolen).  We requested they hold off installing the Hot Water Service and A/C so we have room to get an excavator down the side of the house to build the retaining wall.

We then headed to Porter Davis Head Office to hand over the final cheque, pick up the keys and paperwork (mainly certificates and warranty).

Porter Davis gave us a house warming present - A nice T2 tea pot set and some tea.

Anyway - here are we opening up for the 1st time!

Thanks to everyone who read our blog and followed our build.  We had lots of fun through the process and are really happy with the end result.

There is still heaps to do outside....  we will keep the blog going a little longer.

Practial Completion Inspection

Thursday 16th April 2015

We had the PCI with our site supervisor today.  It lasted for approx 4hours and we went through the house top to bottom listing and marking any and all items we believed needed to be rectified.

Based on the list and lead times on supplier and trades we have been advised hand over will be sometime into the week starting 27/4.

We have been advised we should the the occupancy certificate next week.

No photo, just lots of blue dots on paint touch ups!
